May Day: International Worker’s Day

5.1.13

Qué queremos?
Justicia! Justicia!

Cuando queremos?
Ahora! Ahora!

Started in 1890, May Day rallies commemorate the 1889 Haymarket massacre in Chicago, where police fired into a crowd of workers protesting for an 8-hour work day. May Day is a continuation of the labor struggle against capitalism and economic inequality.

The Rhode Island Jobs with Justice organized the May Day Rally in Providence, marching nearly 400 people to the State House for a rally — demanding comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship, safe working conditions, and an end to racial profiling.
